Ellipse Drag Test

Ellipse Drag Test – Project Description In this activity, you will explore the geometric properties of an ellipse using an interactive construction:
  1. Foci Points: Two points, F1 and F2, represent the foci of the ellipse.
  2. Ellipse Definition: The ellipse is drawn such that the sum of the distances from any point on the ellipse to the two foci is constant (2a).
  3. Draggable Point (P): You can drag the red point P anywhere on the plane.
  4. Drag Test Feedback:
    • If P satisfies the ellipse condition (sum of distances ≈ 2a), the text shows: “✅ On Ellipse”.
    • If not, it shows: “❌ Not on Ellipse”.
    • You can also see the numerical values of d1 + d2 and 2a to understand why P is on or off the ellipse.
  5. Experiment: Move P around the ellipse to see the property in action. Try points inside and outside the ellipse to test your understanding.
