This is a pentomino "sandbox". There is a custom tool collection for Pentominoes at the far right of the tool bar. Note the pattern of green and pink points near the bottom left. The green points are used to specify the rotation and the pink points specify the reflection or "flip" status. To create a pentomino, 1. select the tool 2. place a point on the worksheet 3. choose the rotation angle 4. choose the flip status. The x-pentomino (or Greek Cross) is symmetric for both reflection and 90 degree rotations, so only the position point is needed. For the other bilaterally (left-right) symmetric pentominos, only the position and rotation are needed. The asymmetric pentominoes require position, rotation, and reflection. You can make as many copies of any pentominoes as you like. Which ones can tile the plane (allowing for rotations)?
