Construction task 1: a dynamic y=mx+c

Construction steps

  1. Add a Slider and name it m.
  2. Add a Slider and name it c.
  3. In the input bar type y=m*x+c and press enter.
  4. Add a New Point, A, (2nd button) on the line (the cursor should change as you hover over the line).
  5. Add another New Point on the line, B.
  6. Use Perpendicular Line (4th button) to construct a perpendicular to the y-axis through A.
  7. Use Perpendicular Line (4th button) to construct a perpendicular to the x-axis through B.
  8. Use Intersect Two Objects (2nd set of buttons) to find the intersection of the perpendicular lines, C.  You can also hide the perpendicular lines by clicking on the blue circles next to their names in the Algebra view.
  9. Use Segment (3rd set of buttons) to add the segment AC.
  10. Use Segment (3rd set of buttons) to add the segment BC.  By selecting each of the segments in turn and use the Graphics Style Bar to change the colour and display the value.
  11. Use Insert Text (10thmenu) to add a text-box.  Enter  f=m×e. e, f and m can be selected from the Advanced/Objects menu.
  12. Use Insert Text (10thmenu) to add a text-box.  Enter  a (from the Advanced/Objects menu).  The text should be formatted as a LaTeX formula.
