transformation is a general term for specific ways to manipulate the shape of a point, a line, or a geometric shape. The original shape of the object is called the pre-image and the final shape and position of the object is the image under the transformation.  A transformation is called an isometry when the pre-image and image are congruent figures. Congruent figures are figures that are the same shape and size. Today, you will be investigating rigid transformations. Based on your findings, you should be able to determine which transformations (if any) would be an called an isometry. In addition, you should be able to determine various patterns or relationships that would assist you in performing various transformations on figures on a coordinate grid.
