Below is a sequence that examines the relationship between the figure number and the number of small shaded hexagons in the figure.
1) Click on the Graphics side to open the Graphics Toolbar. Create Figure 4 using the “Wrench” tool in the toolbar. Begin by inserting “Figure3” and then use “1Hexagon” to create Figure 4. When creating your figure, don't forget to go back to the "Pointer" icon to be able to click and drag the objects around. Write the figure number and number of hexagons in the table. Click in each box to write the figure and number of hexagons. The ordered pair will automatically be created. 2) Determine the function that represents the relationship between the figure number and the number of created hexagons. Write it in the “Input” box at the bottom as “f(x) = ”. 3) If the pattern continues, how hexagons will be in the 12th figure?
