Ship rendezvous

Author:
Judah L Schwartz
Two ships, the S.S. Green and the S.S. Blue agree to rendezvous at sea. Use the blue & green DOTS to set their initial positions. Use the blue & green RINGS to set their speeds & headings. Use the yellow dots to set the center of the rendevous region and its radius. The yellow dot in the right hand panel will show the size of the separation of the ships as a function of time. Write expressions for the positions of the two ships as functions of time. How can you minimize the size of the rendezvous region while keeping it larger than some required minimum? [Keep in mind that a zero radius for the rendezvous region indicates a collision!]
