Budyko Model with Ice Albedo Feedback

This worksheet shows the energy balance in Budyko's climate model where albedo depends on temperature via the formation of ice. The x-axis shows the temperature (in Kelvin) and the y-axis the radiative power transfer (in Watts per square meter). The blue line denotes the incoming short-wave radiation, which depends on the temperature via the albedo, and the green curve the outgoing long-wave radiation, which depends on the temperature via Stefan's law. The point A is an equilibrium where incoming and outgoing radiation balance. The strength of the greenhouse effect can be adjusted with the slider, from g=0 (no greenhouse effect - "naked planet") through g=1 ("one layer" greenhouse) and beyond.
