Abstract

This paper describes the methodology and resultsof implementing a constructivist teaching strategy with focus on undergraduate teaching functions. The research was carried out with freshmen of Business Administration, at two universities in Bogotá-Colombia, in 2013. The study examines the pedagogical contribution of the strategy that is to propose a workshop called "Developing boxes - building functions" as a guide, which part of a real-world situation and is supported by a website: www.funciomaticas.com, containing the theoretical elements, activities, models and interactive simulations where the GeoGebra software is used. The strategy aims to strengthen the significant student learning of concepts related to the functions: linear, affine, quadratic and applications, thus making more visible the relationship between mathematics and reality. In addition, to get interest of the students in the study of this science and enhance the development of mathematical skills in context.
