6.5 Geogebra Task

  1. Use the polygon tool to create a triangle.
  2. Show the labels of the three vertices A, B, and C
  3. Construct the angle bisector of angle B (you must click, in order, ABC or CBA.
  4. Create a point at the intersection of the angle bisector and side AC
  5. Show the label of the point of intersection, point D.
  6. Hide the angle bisector.
  7. Create segment BD.
  8. Show the measure of segments AB, AD, CB, and CD.
  9. Start a text box and open the "Advanced" menu
  10. Click on "LaTeX formula" tab and choose the fraction template (a over b)
  11. In the text box backspace to replace the letter "a" with "AD" and "b" with "AB"
  12. Arrow to the right and type the "=" sign.
  13. In the advanced setting use the LaTeX formula tab to create another fraction.
  14. Arrow over and delete the letter "a".
  15. Then click on the Geogebra Icon tab in the Advanced settings. Find and click on "distanceAD"
  16. Arrow over and delete the letter "b".
  17. Click on the Geogebra Icon tab. Find and click on "distanceAB"
  18. Go to the end of the equation and type the "=" sign.
  19. In the Geogebra tab click on "distanceAD" - this will create an orange box with the words "distanceAD" in it.
  20. Click on the orange box and type the following: /distanceAB. Then hit "OK"
  21. Follow steps 9-20 using sides CD and CB.
  22. You should now have two ratios. Move either points A or C. If your ratios stay the same, you are done!
