Translations

A translation is a slide or shift in the position of an object. To write a translation in coordinate form, put the change in the x value first and the change in the y value second. When a point moves to the left or moves down the y-axis, the number is negative. For example, (-5,0) would be the coordinate notation for this translation because the object moves 5 points to the left and 0 points up or down.
