Keeping Pace - A Balanced Assessment Task
- Judah L Schwartz
BLUE & RED started from the same point at the same time down the same path to school. RED decided to walk at 'rabbit' speed the first half of the the distance and at 'turtle' speed the second half of the distance. BLUE decided to walk at 'rabbit' speed half the time and at 'turtle' speed half the time. [You can use the RED dots to set 'rabbit' and 'turtle' speeds. You can use the BLUE dot to set the total time blue takes to get to school.] Under what circumstances does RED get to school first? Under what circumstances does BLUE get to school first? Who gets to the halfway distance first? Who is further along at half shorter travel time? Do they ever meet on the way to school? [see further thoughts below]
