Observe Simulation: Assignment2

This is frequency generator app. Also you can adjust amplitude of wave Which results in Amplification of Sound. Make sure to keep the Volume low and if possible use earphones not speakers.

Steps to Use the above Applet. AIM: We want to observe the effect on how we perceive sound (pitch) of different frequency and amplitude.

STEP 1: Use the green slider to adjust frequency. STEP 2: Press the "sound on" button and "sound off" button to toggle sounds on and off. STEP 3: For different frequency value start from left of slider and change it by moving slider button to right thus increasing frequency. STEP 4: Observe the wave form developed. You can also turn on sound observe how the increased frequency feels to ears. STEP 5: Now keeping the frequency that feels normal to ear (means doesn't hurt your ears) move the pink (amplitude) slider to right. You can turn on Sound to observe how it feels to ears.

What do you think changes in Waveform when you incraese green & pink sliders from left to right ( the blue color line that changes its form when slider position is changed) What quantity changes when the waveform expands vertically. Which color slider will you use to expand the width of waveform.

As you can see in the applet there is kind of graph in background. If you observe more closely there you will see X & Y axis . X being the horizontal darker line in middle with numbers & Y being the Vertical darker line towards left end of applet screen. Can you give out names of what might be plotted in as quantities in applet on X & Y axis.

Which slider will you use to compress (squeeze) or expand the waveform . Where should you move the slider . Note: Observe the effects of both slider on sound and blue zig zag waveform.
