Chapter 2 Activity 1

Activity 1a

SSS, SAS, SSA, AAA, SAA

Activity 1b

SSS- If all sides of a triangle are each congruent to a side in another triangle, then the angle opposite the sides are also congruent. Therefore the triangles are congruent. SAS- If 2 sides and the included angle of a triangle are congruent to the corresponding parts of another triangle the sides opposite the included angle are also congruent. Therefore the triangles are congruent. SSA- A counterexample is when a smaller triangle ABC shares a side with a triangle ACD, AD may be the same length as will AB and AC. The angles ADB and ADC will also be the same. However the triangles are not congruent.
