Triangles
In this activity, we will be using our problem solving skills. We have been working with these shapes for a few weeks, so we should remember that we can rotate and change the size of our shapes. For our challenge today, we will be using the 8 triangles below to create 4 rectangles. The triangles are all different sizes and are facing different directions. Play around and do the best you can to match sizes and make your rectangles. *Helpful hint: Using matching colors may work best. Feel free to explore other options as well.
How many rectangles did you make? Were you able to 4 different rectangles at the same time? Were your rectangles one color? If not what colors did you put together? What is the hardest part of this challenge? This activity satisfies: CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.K.G.B.6 Compose simple shapes to form larger shapes. For example, "Can you join these two triangles with full sides touching to make a rectangle?"
