Reflection (vertical and horizontal)

In this investigation, you will have an opportunity to complete reflections over a "vertical" segment. Complete the following problems. (Click on the Vertical button) (1) Move the vertical segment to x=4 by clicking on and moving the green point. Place the vertices of the triangle with black points on (1,-1), (2,3), and (3,1). Now move the blue vertices of the other triangle to the original triangle's reflection over x=4. When the triangle has been moved, click on the Reflection button to check your answer. (2) Click on the Reflection button to hide the answer. Now move the vertical segment to x=7. Place the vertices of the triangle with black points on (5,4), (6,1), and (9,3). Now move the blue vertices of the other triangle to show its reflection of the original triangle. When the triangle has been moved, click on the Reflection button to check your answer. (3) Click on the Reflection button to hide the answer. Now move the vertical segment to x=8. Place the vertices of the triangle with black points on (3,-1), (8,1), and (10,5). Now move the blue vertices of the other triangle to show its reflection of the original triangle. When the triangle has been moved, click on the Reflection button to check your answer.
In this investigation, you will have an opportunity to complete reflections over a "horizontal" segment. Complete the following problems. (Click on the Horizontal button) (1) Move the horizontal segment to y=0 by clicking on and moving the green point. Place the vertices of the triangle with black points on (-1,4), (1,1), and (4,3). Now move the blues of the other triangle to the original triangle's reflection over y=0. When the triangle has been moved, click on the Reflection button (for Horizontal) to check your answer. (2) Click on the Reflection button to hide the answer. Now move the horizontal segment to y=1. Place the vertices of the triangle with black points on (-1,1), (3,-1), and (6,2). Now move the blues of the other triangle to show its reflection of the original triangle. When the triangle has been moved, click on the Reflection button to check your answer. (3) Click on the Reflection button to hide the answer. Now move the horizontal segment to y=-3. Place the vertices of the triangle with black points on (1,-2), (2,1), and (10,-5). Now move the blues of the other triangle to show its reflection of the original triangle. When the triangle has been moved, click on the Reflection button to check your answer.
