Two Linear Equations
- Dr. Doug Davis, 3D
This applet draws the solution to linear equations with two unknowns. Initially one one equation is shown. You can enter coefficients for the equations in the entry boxes. Experiment with how different numbers change the line. Look at how steep the line is with different values. Look at where the line crosses the x and y axes. Then check the box for Two Unknowns and proceed to the other activities.
Try the equations below and notice the solution point Then change the first equation to . Where is the solution to these the equations located? Then revise the first equation again to . Where is the solution to both these the equations located? Continue to experiment with different numbers and find the three types of possible solutions.
