C02 Creating teaching materials

I would use GeoGebra to teach a large variety of topics within Algebra and Geometry in the classroom. Some of the topics would include, but not be limited to: graphing equations and functions, investigating slope, solving equations and systems of equations, geometric constructions (simulating compass and straightedge), investigating regular polygons, transformations, parallel and perpendicular lines, parallel lines with transversals, and investigating circles, radius and diameter.

I would like to teach my students to use GeoGebra as a tool for investigation utilizing its dynamic nature to explore otherwise static figures and graphs. I plan to use many dynamic worksheets to teach concepts from both Algebra and Geometry. I believe that the ability to move and explore the effects of that movement on objects, figures, and graphs will impart a much greater and deeper understanding of a topic to my students. Students should be able to discover the concepts and relationships on their own by exploration through manipulation of the figures presented.

I would use the current textbooks and resource materials as starting points to apply the same curriculum but in a dynamic fashion using GeoGebra rather than having to rely upon my barely legible drawing abilities and the fact that to show change requires redrawing over and over.

Algebra main long-term topic: visualization of equations

Geometry main long-term topic: construction and visual proofs
