Regular polygon
Action: This tool allows you to create a regular polygon of any number of sides.
Usage: Click where you wish to place the first two vertices (A and B). A dialog box will then open to allow you to specify the number of sides (n).
Notes:
- The polygon will be traced out in a counter-clockwise direction, starting with the side from A to B.
- Several objects will be created by this tool:
- The new vertex points will appear in the algebra window as free objects.
- The edge line segments and vertices will appear in the algebra window as dependent objects.
- The area of the polygon will appear in the algebra window as a dependent object.
- The polygon may be abandoned by pressing the Cancel button in the dialog box, but any points will remain.
- Nonsense values in the dialog box will result in two line segments between the initial points.
Tips:
- Holding down the mouse button while creating a point will display its coordinates, allowing you to position it precisely.
- You may use existing points for one or both of the initial vertices, A and B.
Equivalent Command: Polygon[point A, point B, number n]
