Linear Inequalities - InterActivities and DIY
Plotting Linear Inequalities on the Number Line (1 Variable)
User interacts with linear inequalities (e.g. x>2) on the number line in a variety of ways (6th-7th grade and up).(Last updated: 31 Jan 2009.)
Online Activities with Inequalities on the Number Line
- A0: Input an inequality (e.g. 3x>=5-2x) it is simplified (e.g. x≥1) and plotted on the number line.
- A1: The interactivity plots an inequality on the number line and gives the endpoint. User must input the correct inequality sign.
- A2: The interactivity generates a random inequality. User must draw endpoint, tell if open or closed and in which direction the arrow should go.
- A4: Input 2 inequalities (e.g. 3x>=5-2x and x<8). They are simplified, plotted and the resulting interval of intersection (e.g. [1,8)) is given.

Graphing Linear Inequalities in the Plane (2 Variables)
InterActivities with Linear Inequalities & Equations in 2 Variables (8th grade and up) (Last updated: 31 Jan 2009.)
Online Activities with Inequalities on the Number Line
- A0: Input an inequality (e.g. 6x+2y-1>=2-y) it is simplified (e.g. y≥-2x+1) and plotted in the plane.
- A1: The interactivity plots an inequality in the plane and gives the equation of the bounding line. User must input the correct inequality sign.
- A2: The interactivity generates a random inequality. User must draw 2 points on the line, tell if dashed or solid or closed and which corner to shade.
- A4: Input 2 inequalities. They are simplified and the resulting regions in the plane are drawn.

Linear Programming with GeoGebra (2 Variables)
Get your pupils/students doing linear programming with GeoGebra. Helps them just enough so that they have to understand the math!
Each example has YouTube video explaining the process and how to use Geogebra and the polygon tool to "fake shading" and to test the objective function. (YouTube videos are HD and captioned so good for reading, deaf, online translation, ...)
