Audio in Applets

Jump to: navigation, search

It's possible to "audio-enable" any GeoGebra applet by adding some template files, with some minor editing of an HTML file, using an open source HTML editor. So, while the GeoGebra applet is running, a user can click on a checkbox to play an mp3 audio file. This means that any GeoGebra applet can include the feature that allows a user to play, pause, and restart the playback of an mp3 audio file that you provide. The performance is robust; the included files are very small in size. All files used in the template are open source. A visual tutorial provides step-by-step directions for editing the template files. You are free to make any modifications.

Why is this useful? In some cases, it may be appropriate to provide audio for young children, special education students, or for individuals who have trouble with reading. Editing a GeoGebra applet to add audio functionality requires intermediate computer skills without HTML or Javascript coding experience.

With the use of the visual tutorial, you will be able to adapt a GeoGebra applet as an audio-enabled resource, using your own mp3 audio file.
