Arithmetic of complex numbers
Contents |
Background
We can consider a point A in GeoGebra to be a point in the complex plane C. Using the algebra window, A+B, for example, will calculate the sum of the points and this can be interpreted as complex addition.
Using the "new tools" of the pre-release (as of March 2007) version of GeoGebra we can define complex multiplication, conjugation and reciprocal/inverse.
Tools
- more convenient is a worksheet containing all these tools at once.
Complex multiplication
This worksheet shows the effect of the complex transform z->z^2 on the line and circle. Tools from this worksheet can easily be adapted for other calculations. Double click on the worksheet to open it.
1/z
This worksheet shows the effect of the complex transform z->1/z on the line and circle. Tools from this worksheet can easily be adapted for other calculations. Double click on the worksheet to open it.
