Slide the points K and L until the triangles are congruent by SSS Congruence Criterion.
You will notice that the area of each triangle remains the same. Why?
Is this illustration complete? In other words, is this a convincing proof of the Pythagorean Equation (a² + b² = c²)? What else would you add?
