Dilations

After viewing the final presentation in topic 17, "Graph Movement," explore the properties of Dilations with this worksheet.

Sorry, the GeoGebra Applet could not be started. Please make sure that Java 1.4.2 (or later) is installed and active in your browser (Click here to install Java now)

Remember that with these constructions you can move the points around. You may create any quadrilateral first, THEN dilate it with the checkboxes and dilation scale at the top. Consider the following:
1) Does each dilation show up where you expect it to?
2) Can you identify the dialatoin rule BEFORE you click the last check box?
3) Will you be able to perform these tasks on your own (without GeoGebra)?
4) Notice that the dilation scale is shown with decimal values. How else can you write the decimals: 0.25, 0.5, and 0.75? What does it mean to multiply by a decimal with a numerator = 1?
