Mac OS X Instructions:

(*) Mac OS X Installer, July 3, 2008: please use GeoGebra WebStart on Macs until we have fixed an important problem with our current Mac installer. We will update this page as soon as a new installer is available.

Notes

• Requires Mac OS X 10.3 or later
• Be sure you have Java 1.4.2 or later installed. You can download Java from Apple's web site
• The compressed installer should be recognized by Stuffit Expander on Mac OS X 10.3 or by the build-in Archive Utility on Mac OS X 10.4 or later and should automatically be expanded after downloading. If it is not expanded, you can expand it manually using StuffIt Expander 6.0 or later on Mac OS X 10.3 or using the build-in Archive Utility on Mac OS X 10.4 or later.
• If you have any problems launching the installer once it has been expanded, make sure that the compressed installer was expanded using Stuffit Expander on Mac OS X 10.3 or using the build-in Archive Utility on Mac OS X 10.4 or later. If you continue to have problems, please contact technical support.

Linux Instructions:

Instructions

• After downloading open a shell and,  cd to the directory where you downloaded the installer.
• At the prompt type:  sh ./GeoGebra_3_0_0_0.bin

• You need to install a Java 1.4.2 or later virtual machine. You can download one from Sun's Java web site or contact your OS manufacturer.

Instructions (Unix or Unix-like operating systems)

• After downloading, type
    java -jar GeoGebra_3_0_0_0.jar
• If that does not work, try
    java -classpath [path to]classes.zip:GeoGebra_3_0_0_0.jar install
• If that does not work either, on sh-like shells, try
    cd [to directory where GeoGebra_3_0_0_0.jar is located]
  CLASSPATH=GeoGebra_3_0_0_0.jar
  export CLASSPATH
  java install
• Or for csh-like shells, try
    cd [to directory where GeoGebra_3_0_0_0.jar is located]
  setenv CLASSPATH GeoGebra_3_0_0_0.jar
  java install


Instructions (for other platforms)

• Be sure you have Java 1.4.2 or later installed. You can download Java from Sun's Java web site
• In a console window, change to the directory where you downloaded GeoGebra_3_0_0_0.jar to before running the installer
• Your operating system may invoke Java in a different way. To start the installer, add GeoGebra_3_0_0_0.jar to your CLASSPATH, then start the main class of the installer named install
